This will create opportunities for the sector by expanding the food processing industry and increasing employment by more food processing units in India. For instance, the gross value of plant and machinery deployed in the food processing industry is expected to reach USD 51.19 Billion by 2024-25. However, major challenges faced by this sector include an inadequate link between processing and production, lack of focus on quality and safety standards and low capacity utilization.
